for MacOS X build-in VPN client:

MacOS 10.2.xx (Jaguar) or later has a PPTP VPN client bundled with the operating system.

1. Configuring a VPN session

Mac OS X 10.2 - 10.4

Setting up a VPN session begins with the "Internet Connect" application, which is located in the "Applications" folder. To open it, double-click on the Macintosh HD on your desktop open the "Finder" window, choose "Internet Connect" and click on the "VPN" icon.
If you have never configured your computer for a VPN connection before, a pop-up window will appear that says, "Your computer needs to be set up to make VPN connections." Choose PPTP and click Continue.
Note: If you have set your computer's System Preferences to prompt you to authenticate before installing an application, you will see a pop-up window asking you to enter your password. Once you've entered your password, click OK.
Next to the Configuration field, select Edit Configurations in the drop-down menu and enter the following information:
  • Description: AnonProxy VPN (or a name of your choosing)

  • Server Address: 67.213.70.210

  • Account Name: <your username>@pptp (123456@pptp for example)

  • User Authentication: Password

  • Encryption: Maximum (128 bit only) from the drop-down menu

  • Advanced: Enable VPN on demand: Leave this box unchecked
Click OK. You will be returned to the main Internet Connect window.
If it is not already checked, check the Show VPN status in menu bar box.

Mac OS X 10.5 or later

Go to the Apple menu in the upper left-hand corner of the top menu.
Select "System Preferences" from the drop-down menu and choose "Network".
If you don't see VPN listed as an option, click the "+" icon in the bottom corner of the left-hand menu to add a connection. In the pop-up window, from the Interface drop-down menu, select VPN. From the VPN Type drop-down menu, choose PPTP. Next to "Service Name", enter "AnonProxy VPN" (or a name of your choice) and click "Create".
In the right-hand menu, click on the drop-down menu next to "Configuration", which currently says "Default", and select "Add Configuration".
Name the configuration "AnonProxy VPN" or the alternate name you chose in the previous step.
In the right-hand menu, enter the following information:
  • Configuration: AnonProxy VPN (or a name of your choosing)

  • Server Address: 67.213.70.210

  • Account Name: <your username>@pptp (123456@pptp for example)

  • Encryption: Maximum (128 bit only) from the drop-down menu

Check the box next to "Show VPN status in menu bar".
In the Network window, click on the "Advanced..." button. In the "Session Options" area, make sure that all three options are checked:
  • Disconnect when switching user accounts

  • Disconnect when user logs out

  • Send all traffic over VPN connection
Click Apply. Your AnonProxy VPN settings will now be set.

2. Establishing the VPN connection

Now just click on the "Connect" button to get started. After a bit of negotiation between client and server, the VPN session will begin. The Status: area in the lower left-hand corner of the window will switch from Idle to Connected, and a timer will display the elapsed duration of the session.
To finish VPN session, click on the VPN connection icon in your menu bar and select "Disconnect".
