Setup instructions
for Windows VPN client:

1. Downloading the VPN Client
- Depending on your Windows version, follow the link to download one of the VPN Client packages:
- Windows 2000/XP/Vista(32-bit):
- Windows 98/ME/NT:
2. Installing the VPN Client
- Before you can start the installation process, you must show that you have installation privileges. You should log in as Administrator to install the VPN Client. Also, you must uninstall the previously installed VPN Client (if any) before proceeding with the new installation.
- VPN Client Installation Process:
- Exit all Windows programs, and disable any antivirus software.
- Locate and unzip downloaded VPN Client install archive.
Note: VPN Client software cannot be installed from a network drive. If you attempt to do so, you receive an error message.
- To start installation run the "vpnclient_setup.exe" file. Follow the instructions on the screens and enter the following information: A destination folder for the VPN Client files (or click Next > to enter the default location C:\Program Files\Cisco Systems\VPN Client).
- When the installation has completed, the installer displays a confirmation dialog. To restart now, click Finish. Your system reboots. To restart later, click the No radio button and then click Finish. The VPN Client Setup closes.
- Remember: you must restart your computer before you can use the VPN Client.
3. Establishing a VPN connection
- To start the VPN Client application, choose Start > Programs > Cisco Systems VPN Client > VPN Client. The VPN Client displays the VPN Client's main window. Select the "VPN-Proxy" connection in "Connection Entries" menu and choose "Connect" or simply double-click the "VPN-Proxy" connection entry to start the VPN session. Enter your username/password when prompted. After completing the user authentication phase, the VPN Client continues negotiating security parameters and displays a window. The connection entry display now indicates which connection entry is active. Lock icon in the system tray will display current connection status.
- Note: On some systems, "VPN-Proxy" connection entry may not be installed correctly. To fix this, please install profile manually. To do so, please follow the instructions on our [Troubleshooting . . . »] section
- To disconnect your session, either double-click the lock icon in the system tray and click the Disconnect button or right-click the lock and select Disconnect from the menu (in the standard way).
